Danilo Salsi’s Swan 45 DSK-Comifin lines up with Team Italy for the World Offshore Team Racing Championships at the Sardinia Rolex Cup.

Milan, 09 June 2008 - The action will start on 14 June in Porto Cervo at the Sardinia Rolex Cup, the World Offshore Team Racing Championships. There will be five teams competing, each comprised of a Farr 40, Swan 45 and a Transpac 52, the three most competitive and technologically advanced one design classes in the world. The battle will take place between Italy, Spain, Germany and Russia (with two teams) in the emerald waters of Costa Smeralda.

There is great anticipation for the Italian team that includes Vincenzo Onorato’s Farr 40 Mascalzone Latino (recent third time winners of the Rolex Farr 40 Worlds), Riccardo Simoneschi’s TP52 Audi Q8 (with Tommaso Chieffi on tactics) and Swan 45 DSK-Comifin owned and helmed by Danilo Salsi with tactician Pietro D’Ali.

“This is the first time we will take part in the Sardinia Rolex Cup and we are very motivated. This is a unique regatta that demands excellent team racing tactics and skill. As a team, DSK-Comifin has been performing well this year and I am confident that we will rise to the challenge on the race course next week,” stated Danilo Salsi.

The competition is not to be underestimated with past winners from Spain and Germany (with Jochen Schumann helming) competing, as well as Vincenzo Onorato who won the event in 2006 with Team Sardinia.

The Sardinia Rolex Cup is a biannual regatta organised by the Yacht Club Costa Smeralda and this year marks the 16th edition of the event, which began in 1972. The regatta includes windward leeward racing with the possibility of a distance race during the middle of the week. The championship concludes on 21 June with the presentation of the Sardinia Cup Challenge and the Rolex Offshore Team World Championship trophies.
